The Architect-Walker launch events
Monday 28 May 2018, Exeter

Bricklaying with daydreams, creative demolition, first aid for sick buildings, dissolving signs, beating boundaries, speaking truth to architecture and mapping hallucinatory post-truth urban landscapes...

The Architect-Walker is Wrights & Sites' latest anti-manifesto for changing a world while exploring it. Published by Triarchy Press, with design and images by Stuart Crewes, The Architect-Walker will officially launch on Monday 28 May 2018 as part of Art Week Exeter, with an afternoon of walks and a book launch at Boston Tea Party in the evening.

Afternoon Walks

Walks begin promptly at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm + 4pm, leaving from the Queen's Street pavement outside Boston Tea Party. Each walk lasts no more than an hour, and can accommodate a maximum of 12 participants, aged 16+ (or children accompanied by adults). Click on a link below to book a place.

1pm: 'It is not only the walkers, but the buildings that are on the move' (led by Stephen Hodge)

Remember that the city is in constant metamorphosis. Learn and deploy selected architect-walker tactics to help you stake out your own place in Exeter's emergent favela.

Book your free place here.

2pm: 'A Loop Around Gandy Street' (led by Phil Smith)

The unicorn on M&S, the prophetess and the Celestial City, the secrets of the murdered architect, volcano and ghost wall: an invocatory walk.

Book your free place here.

3pm: 'Join the Rest' (led by Cathy Turner)

In a busy city, where is rest? Put it another way, where is unrest? And who rests where? We will take a slow tour of restful space, spaces of rest, spaces of unrest, spaces of arrest, spaces of the rest. Bring something to rest on, and let's take in the view from ground level.

Book your free place here.

4pm: 'Adopting Space' (led by Simon Persighetti)

We have heard of people adopting public telephone boxes, which they clean and decorate with flowers. What small spaces could you adopt in the city?
