Contributors

Eileen Dillon is a freelance director, performer and teacher. She has worked with Wrights & Sites, Para Active, Death by Theatre, Altogether Theatre and Spiderwheel Theatre. She is currently teaching BTEC Performing Arts at Exeter College, developing and delivering Theatre-In-Education projects for The National Trust and touring a one-woman performance, directed by Dorinda Hulton.

Stephen Hodge is a lecturer in Drama at the University of Exeter and a practising performance artist. He combines scientific method, visual imagery, found material, fragmented texts and intervention. His work is structure led - time tends to be the controlling force, rather than narrative or character. Stephen has created work for In The Big Room, Exeter Music-Theatre Co-operative, Platform 4 and Theatre Alibi, as well as self-directed pieces, including for piano solo (1994, National Review of Live Art, Glasgow), 26 (1997, Spacex Gallery, Exeter) and Exeter A-Z (2000, Exeter bus fleet).

Simon Persighetti, born Southend-on-Sea, 1954, studied at Southend School of Art and Dartington College of Arts. He has worked as a visual aids technician, performer, teacher and theatre-maker. Member of Gog Theatre (1981); the Crack Collective (1985-88); Gog tour of Cameroon, West Africa with Musinga Drama Group of Buea (1985); worked in Simba school, Zambia (1988-92); angelcast site-specific productions (1993-). He continues to develop approaches to site-specific performance as a member of Wrights & Sites and as a lecturer in Devised Theatre at Dartington College of Arts.

Phil Smith was born in 1956 in Coventry. Now a performer, dramaturg, director and writer for live performance. A member of TNT and Wrights & Sites. He has created over ninety productions. He works within a range of performance that spans traditional panto, jazz oratorio, site-sympathetic autobiographical pieces, confrontational adaptions of classic novels, text for physical theatres like Perpetual Motion and 'new writing'.

Elizabeth Swift is a director and founder member of VOID:Performance. She is a lecturer in Performance at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education and has an MA from Lancaster University in Contemporary Theatre Practice. She has written and directed performance work for VOID which has been presented at various sites and venues in the UK and US. Liz has presented papers at several major conferences and is undertaking a Ph.D on hypertext and performance.

Cathy Turner is a theatre writer and a research fellow in the performing and creative arts at the University of Exeter. Between 1992 and 1999 worked extensively for and with The Common Players. Commissions from others include Orchard Theatre (1992), The Northcott Theatre (1996, 1997) and Paines Plough (1999). Co-produced the 1995 Platform 4/Theatre Alibi new writing season. Has taught projects at the University of Exeter, Plymouth University, Dartington College of Arts and the University of Kent. Currently producing/writing Inner Space/Outer Space for a science/art production, funded by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts.
