Fribourg (Switzerland), 2008.
Supported and co-produced by Belluard Bollwerk International Festival. Funded by a Canton de Fribourg encouragement to culture, with the support of Pour-cent Culturel Migros and Ernst Göhner Stiftung.
mis-guided was co-produced with Belluard Bollwerk International, Fribourg (Switzerland), where it formed the twelve-day backbone to the Festival in 2008. It marked a shift in Wrights & Sites site-related practices, taking walking towards architectural intervention. Six artists from 276 international applicants were commissioned to intervene into the cityscape, and were mentored by Wrights & Sites in the months leading up to BBI. They were Alexander Hana (Switzerland), Christian Hasucha (Germany), Nicolas Galeazzi (Switzerland), Blaise Roulin & Yoann Chassot (Switzerland), Rajni Shah (UK), and Robert Walker (Switzerland). The city’s former railway station was converted into a Tourist Mis-Information Centre, where Wrights & Sites curated a series of artists’ talks, discussions with local and international tourist bodies, a film programme, exhibits from the mis-guided artists, and a sound installation. Additionally, Wrights & Sites led two public derivés.
The six pieces of work developed for the programme were:
•Die Insel by Christian Hasucha;
•Gestern, Heute, Morgen by Robert Walker;
•Une boîte pour Fribourg by Nicolas Galeazzi;
•Tschou-Tschou by Alexander Hana;
•Le centre de Fribourg by Blaise Roulin and Yoann Chassot;
•Altars of all of us/speaking to strangers by Rajni Shah.
